Equality has been the dream of human beings for many many centuries. All people are created equal. All religions believe in equality and all prophets asked their people to live in equality. Equality does not only mean having the same opportunities, but it means having the same rights between people, between nations, between sexes.
To begin with, equality between people is the main point that the human being has fought to have for several centuries. One is not better than another except by his efforts. It has no meaning that a rich man has the ability to own thousands of poor people to work for him, as slaves, by oppression. God creates all people the same; therefore, they must have the same rights to live in freedom with all their needs. People must have the right to say what they want without being punished and have the right to understand what is really happening around them without lying. People must not be judged according to their color, their religion or even their political directions.
At the same time, equality between nations is very important to the world to live in peace. First of all, each nation must have the right to rule itself according to the law of the United Nations. Also, each nation must have the same right to have its own religion without afraid of being attacked. This is what happened in Bosnia when Serbia killed thousands of Muslims and raped many Muslim women because it refused Bosnia to be ruled by Muslims. Finally, people must have the same right to live in their nations without afraid of being displaced. This is what happened in Palestine when Israel expelled millions of the Palestinian people from their lands.
In addition, having the same rights between the sexes is one of the meanings of equality. Women should enjoy the same rights as men. They should have the right to vote and to receive equal pay for equal work because women now are more than half the society in any nation and half the human resources of nations.
In conclusion, equality between people, nations, and sexes will lead to more peace in the world. As an African citizen, I hope that all the people in Africa will have the same rights to avoid the current wars between the African countries.
