Letfs talk and analyze your present condition after you take a few deep breaths and then relax, Harumi. Okay, this book 20-(Hatachi)-Nokoro edited by Takashi Tachibana, the most famous science journalist in Japan, introduces you to sixty eight interviews whose topic is gwhat did you do around twenty years old?h Thatfs about your age, right? The book clarifies the meaning for life of the time around twenty For example, a novelist in the book who won a famous award was addicted to read some philosophy books and discuss Marxism-Leninism, and also an unique musician has already refused existent music and found an importance to create own world by himself when they are exactly twenty years old. You can check the rest of the sixty six 20-Nokoro here. In short, around twenty, 20-Nokoro, is strongly responsible for what you will be and a critical time of the process of developing onefs self-identity.
Erving Golfman classifies medical schools with other total institutions such as prisons and asylums where life is strictly controlled. That you are treated same way as a prisoner must be considered seriously. You spend nearly the whole day with same medical students in only one building, discuss with same type of persons and pick out your answers, establish your identity, and acknowledge it is normal. It has gone on no less than six years, a nearly quarter of your life. The medical school and only ninety four medical students have been everything for you at the time. Do you feel empty inside, Harumi? You might actually argue that it doesnft matter because you have a lot of fun with many friends. But the attitude you do not demand those who hold different ways of thinking or struggle with them probably reflect your mind in twenty years or thirty years.
So, how will you catch patientsf hearts and understand their complicated minds? You may also argue that you do not have any choices but stay here. But, I know you are free and have a plenty of opportunities to get out of your world from a part time job to going to abroad. Some of your friends in deed are so courageous that they could take part in some volunteer activities in foreign countries, faced cultural difficulties, questioned the adequacy of own identities, and step up efforts. The things your friends can do are obviously the things you can do as well.
Because, Harumi, you are actually in a medical school, it is possibly hard to recognize your abnormal narrowness and its fierce effects of your growth. Itfs like you are in a cage in a way. Isolated birds become to less and less hold immovable will and at last give up even trying to fry. But, you are not bird but a quite high motivated student. Use your hands, unlock a door, and take flight to the world outside. Then, review where you are though discussion with other field people and comparing them to you. You can do it, for you will be a doctor, one of the scientists, who are inevitably required objectivity. Fix it in your mind that a refusal to figure out yourself directly leads to a refusal to correct yourself.
Let's say you expand a little bit the extent of your field into just other medical schools. There seem to be both similarities and differences. But if an educational environment potently affects the quality of doctor, such as philosophy, medical methods, or something matter like a number of medical malpractice, it must be serious, right. You need, perhaps, compare with other medical schools and step forward to understand environment surroundings you stand. If you notice obvious disadvantages about curriculum or something educational, do you just follow the course someone set or take any action to remedy? Those who show servile obedience with frequent complaints will supposedly keep on same things in future as ones now neglect to make efforts to change a situation. I believe you have power enough to move your teachers as long as you treat them with respect and present persuasive ideas. The one who makes no challenges does none of the work.
Take look at me, Harumi. Imagine you dare to go out of your world and start thinking objectively about yourself. Imagine you dare to long for a distinct sort of people and learn various values. Imagine you dare not to hesitate pouring your power for correcting your situation and achieve desires. And so, my friend, it is about time for frying so as not to regret lost twenty.
